Wedgewood Village Concrete Project

Published on: June 24, 2026

Strong partnerships often define a project’s success long before the first yard of concrete is placed. That proved true again at Wedgewood Village, where Charter Construction teamed up with Bell Construction to deliver a fast-paced, multi-structure development that demanded precision, flexibility, and trust.

The project includes a 114,442-square-foot underground, poured-in-place parking garage designed to support 285 vehicles, along with a steel-framed office and retail tower on the north side and a concrete podium on the south side for future vertical expansion. Charter served as the structural concrete contractor, placing more than 7,250 cubic yards of concrete, installing 374 tons of reinforcing steel, nearly 98,800 pounds of post-tension cable, and logging approximately 67,400 man-hours.

From the outset, the schedule set the tone. Charter began work in late July 2025 and recently completed the project, pouring the last slab on the metal deck in February 2026.

Pivoting Under Pressure: Solving Supply Challenges

The owner and GC requested expedited delivery of the north structure so steel erection could begin earlier than planned. Charter’s team adjusted quickly and delivered the structure ahead of that milestone, allowing the next trade to mobilize without delay.

Midway through construction, the team faced its biggest test. Just as production ramped up, rebar supply chains tightened. Fabrication lead times grew longer, and shop drawings lagged behind demand. Without materials on site, even the most efficient field crew can’t maintain pace. Rather than slow down, Charter’s office and field teams leaned in.

Project leadership worked directly with suppliers to prioritize critical deliveries and secure alternate sources when needed. Crews adapted in real time, sometimes fabricating from stock-length material to keep work moving. In many cases, materials and final field-use drawings arrived just in time for installation. It required daily coordination and constant communication between the office, suppliers, and crews.

Maximizing Every Day: The Power of Field Leadership

While the logistics challenge played out behind the scenes, the field team kept production strong. Superintendent Armando set the tone, working alongside Formwork Foreman Davy, Rebar Foreman Chris, and their crews to maximize every day on site. They stayed proactive, adjusted sequences, and pushed forward with whatever was in front of them.

“The field made hay every day—using what was in front of them and proactively collaborating with the office team to keep them supplied,” said Project Manager Brent Roberts. “They set the pace.”

That mindset made the difference. Even with supply pressures and an accelerated schedule, the team topped out the poured-in-place structure in January and completed the final slab-on-metal deck in February, meeting the client’s expectations without sacrificing quality or safety.

For Charter, Wedgewood Village represents more than another completed structure. It’s another strong project delivered alongside Bell and another example of how preparation, collaboration, and dependable field leadership keep complex work on track. When challenges surfaced, the team didn’t wait for perfect conditions. They found solutions and kept building.

That’s the kind of performance partners can count on.
