Ed moore charter employee

There’s a certain kind of satisfaction you only find on a job site—the moment when a group of people, each with their own strengths and responsibilities, come together to build something bigger than themselves. The best teams make that process look almost effortless.

And if you’ve ever worked alongside Superintendent Ed Moore, you’ve seen what that looks like up close. Ed brings a quiet confidence, steady leadership, and a deep commitment to doing things the right way. It’s the combination that’s made him a cornerstone of Charter’s field teams for more than a decade.

Family Ties and Stronger Teams

Ed grew up in Tennessee and, as he puts it, “construction was the only career path I remember being drawn to.” He started out with a bridge-building company, where he first discovered a love for concrete construction.

That early interest pushed him to pursue formal training at J.A. Logan, where he earned his associate’s degree in construction management. After learning the ropes, a real turning point came 11 years ago, when his brother, Corey—already a superintendent at Charter—asked him to join his crew.

Ed started as a foreman on Corey’s team, and that brother-to-brother dynamic shaped some of Ed’s earliest experiences at Charter. “I still enjoy getting to work with my brother,” Ed says. “The more you know people, the easier it is to communicate. It turns out smoother.”

Today, Corey leads Charter’s reinforcing operations while Ed oversees projects as a superintendent, but their collaboration continues—usually around rebar schedules, sequencing, and planning. It’s the type of long-term working relationship that speaks to Charter’s culture. People grow, and roles change, but the foundation of teamwork stays the same.

Over his 11 years at Charter, Ed has been a part of some of the company’s most meaningful work. Two projects stand out to him: the Nashville Airport Garage—his largest project as a superintendent—and topping out his first high-rise at Hillsboro Town Center, a 22-story tower in Green Hills.

“I learned a ton,” Ed says. “There was a lot of teamwork and collaboration that went into completing a vertical project like that.”

Construction is a Team Sport

That spirit of teamwork is a theme Ed comes back to again and again. “It’s a team sport out on the job site,” he says. “Charter has a lot of different operations, but everybody works together for the same goal.”

He talks about the fun of working with a group of people committed to improving every day by solving problems, communicating clearly, and pushing through challenges as one unified crew.

“One of the reasons our team is so strong is because we truly care about each other,” he adds. “Everyone is leaning in, playing their role, and trying to do the right thing.”

That last part—doing the right thing—is something Ed points to as one of the most defining parts of Charter’s culture.

“It’s a noticeable difference here,” he says. “I’ve worked for other companies where people try to get away with what they can. That’s not the case at Charter.” He credits the leadership team for setting that tone and for creating an environment that sets people up to succeed as the company continues to grow.

For Ed, the last 11 years have brought new challenges, memorable milestones, and countless opportunities to grow. But the thing that keeps him motivated is simple: the people around him. “Everybody’s on the same team,” he says. “That’s what makes Charter unique.”

Ed’s story is a reminder of what makes Charter special: people who show up for each other, work hard, and take pride in doing things the right way. His steady leadership and team-first mindset continue to shape the projects he touches. We’re grateful to have him leading the way.
