charter construction employee mario galindo

For Mario Galindo, construction is more than a career—it’s a calling. It’s about building something lasting, teaching the next generation, and growing alongside a team that feels more like family than coworkers.

When Opportunity Knocks (or Your Brothers Call)

Mario has been with Charter for over 21 years. His journey began when his two brothers, already part of the Charter team, encouraged him to join the company.

“When a spot opened up, they called me to join them,” he says. “They were excited, and it was a great opportunity for me.”

What started as a job quickly became a lifelong path—one where Mario has worked his way from laborer to superintendent, driven by grit, faith, and a passion for teaching others.

“I started out as a laborer, carpenter, layout person, and then foreman, until I made it to superintendent,” he explains.

His steady climb wasn’t just about putting in time. It was about showing up, taking ownership, and earning trust. And when Charter’s leadership recognized that he was ready to step into the next level, they let him know.

“I remember the moment they told me I was ready to be a superintendent. That made me feel great,” Mario recalls. “When I came here, I never thought I would get this far. At first, you’re just thinking about putting food on the table. But they helped me grow. They believed in me.”

Teaching the Trade and Building the Culture

That belief is something Mario now tries to pass on to the next generation.

“I like to build,” he says, “and I like to teach others what I know.”

As a superintendent, Mario plays a key role in guiding teams through projects from start to finish. He ensures schedules stay on track, solves problems in real time, and mentors young team members along the way. For Mario, that teamwork is what makes Charter different.

“It’s an excellent team here,” he says. “You can talk with anyone or ask questions, and everybody’s willing to help. That’s a big deal.”

One project that stands out to Mario is Geodis Park, Nashville’s new professional soccer stadium. Built during the height of the pandemic, the job came with major challenges.

“It was hard,” Mario says. “People were getting sick, and it was a huge project. But we ended up building it on time. That doesn’t happen without team support. Everybody—from the owners to the guys in the field—did their part.”

The culture of growth and support has made a lasting impression. Mario often speaks about how his professional development has also shaped him personally.

“Charter taught me to be professional. To treat every project the same—big or small—and to do things the right way. And personally, it helped me see life differently. Walking hand in hand with God, that’s what helps you go far.”

A Foundation of Faith

Faith plays a central role in Mario’s life and work.

“One thing I really like about Charter is that they preach the Word. Without God, we are nothing. It’s a professional company, but it’s also a place where faith is part of the culture.”

Mario’s story is one of growth, not just in title but in character and confidence. And it’s a story that continues. When asked what he’d say to someone considering a role at Charter, his answer is simple.

“It’s a great company. They treat you right. They open doors for people. They like to grow—and they give you the chance to grow, too. That’s probably the reason I’m still here.”

Opportunity, Trust, and a Job Well Done

From the job site to the leadership team, Mario embodies what it means to build with purpose and to lead by example.

“Thanks to my supervisors, Richard, Jeff Walsh, and Tony,” he says. “They motivated me. They believed in me. And thanks to them, I made it this far.”
